Imagine Peace

On September 22, 23 and 24, 2024, the city of Paris hosted a major event: the 38th International Meeting for Peace, organized by the Sant’Egidio community.

In this context, invitation-only discussion forums were held, providing participants with a space for dialogue and reflection on peace and coexistence among different religions and cultures. The European Institute of Human Sciences (IESH) was honored to be invited to this prestigious event.

Represented by its dean, Mr. Larabi Becheri, along with several students, IESH actively participated in these forums. Their presence reflects the Institute’s commitment to promoting peace, tolerance, and social harmony—crucial values in a time when identity and religious tensions often dominate public discourse.

This participation is part of IESH’s broader approach of openness and listening, in favor of interreligious and intercultural dialogue, while also encouraging its students to become peacebuilders in a pluralistic society. By attending these discussions, Mr. Becheri and the students not only shared their perspectives but also engaged in dialogue with others, emphasizing the importance of exchange between communities to build a future based on peace and mutual understanding.

The role of IESH in this process exemplifies the vital importance of educational institutions in fostering dialogue and understanding among peoples. Their involvement demonstrates how education can serve as a powerful tool for building bridges between different traditions and nurturing a lasting culture of peace.
